psp colouring tut 01 - feat. jared padalecki
This tutorial was written in Paint Shop Pro 9. It should work in lower versions, Photoshop, and Gimp as well. Tutorial is written by Kim.

We will be going from...

to

Step 01. Our first step is to create a Curve Layer ( Layers > New Adjustment Layers > Curves ). Enter the settings below and press Ok.
Channel - RGB [ Input: 126, Output: 169 ]
Channel - Red [ Input: 164, Output: 138 ]
Channel - Green [ Input: 170, Output: 151 ]
Channel - Blue [ Input: 0, Output: 0 ]

Step 02. Add a Hue/Saturation layer ( Layers > New Adjustment Layers > Hue/Saturation ), and set the Saturation on 9.

Step 03. Add a Channel Mix Layer ( another New Adjustment Layer ) and enter the setting below. ( Just to clarify; 94, 0, -12 = Red: 94, Green: 0, Blue: 12 ]

Channel - Red [ 94, 0, -12 ]
Channel - Green [ 0, 100, 0 ]
Channel - Blue [ 0, 0, 100 ]

Step 04. New Raster Layer ( Layers > New Raster Layer ). Select Flood fill tool and fill the layer with the colour ' #d3e1ed ' . Set blend mode to exclusion with opacity on 8.

Step 05. Create another New Raster Layer, and Flood fill it with ' #fa856e ' this time. Set the blend mode to burn, Opacity on 20.

Step 06. Add a Brightness/Contrast Layer with Brightness on 6, and Contrast on 10.

Step 07. Create another Curve Layer and enter the below settings, then press Ok.
Channel - RGB [ Input: 161, Output: 176 ]

And that's it! If you found this tutorial helpful a link back would be appreciated (:

I've run into a problem on the first step. PS CS3 requires a minimum of 4 for the input so entering Channel - Blue [ Input: 0, Output: 0 ] is impossible.

Nevermind, I found a way around it using a color fill and a levels adjustment layer.

Glad you found a way around it (: I'm not sure if this would have worked as I don't use Photoshop much, but I think if you just don't touch those fields at all it might work.
